Meet Marion from Speyside who turned her everyday walking and cycling into a daily routine after discovering the BetterPoints campaign
Here's what she said about her BetterPoints experience:
I’m Marion, 49 years old, and I live in beautiful Speyside right next to the Speyside Way. I work as aTechnical Assistant at the local high school for Moray Council, so I’ve always had a fairly active daily routine. But since hearing about the BetterPoints campaign on MFR, I’ve taken things up a notch.
I thought,"Well, I already walk and cycle quite a bit, so why not make it count?" That simple decision has made a big difference in how I approach my daily activities. Since joining, I’ve made a point of doing something active every single day. The app keeps me motivated because I don’t want to break my streak, it’s become part of my routine now.
Cycling became a real passion during lockdown. It started as a way to get out of the house, and now I often cycle the 4 miles to work (weather permitting, of course!). On top of that, I go out walking daily with my dog, Atlas. He’s full of energy and loves exploring all the paths and trails around Aberlour, Archiestown and Craigellachie. Luckily, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to scenic routes.
One of the best things about cycling aside from the fresh air and the morning boost is how great it’s been for my mental health. It clears the head and keeps me feeling balanced and energised.
BetterPoints has made it even more rewarding. I’ve already redeemed some of my points forAmazon vouchers, which is a nice bonus on top of all the physical and mental health benefits.
If you’re thinking about it, I totally recommend giving it a go. You don’t need to do anything extraordinary just build it into your everyday life, like I have. It’s amazing what a little motivation can do.
Well done to Marion! By sharing her story, she is our HiTravel Hero and the winner of 20,000 BetterPoints (£20!). To join Marion and hundreds of others earning rewards for all of their sustainable journeys, download the app via the QR code below or the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
